Feast of the Mary Magdalene
Anyone doing anything special today? I wish I was in Vezelay today, here's the schedule of events (in French), although I'll bet the village is packed with people, so maybe not ... :)

Today I'm wearing the Magdalene pendant I bought there in Vezelay, but that's all the outward recognition of the day I'm doing. My spiritual path is not one heavy on processions or rituals, it's very internal, but the Magdalene does play a strong part in weaving my spiritual self into the Christian-based culture I'm immersed in daily.

I also am wearing a Magdalene medal that I got for free online a long time ago.
I pray the Episcopal Morning and Evening office daily, and I used the lessons appointed for her feast day when I prayed today.
I was going to make madeleines, and navettes today as well, but it was too hot to have the oven on for long, so I cheated and bought some madeleines instead. They are for dessert tonight, along with raspeberries and ice cream.
I also created a playlist of music that has songs about Mary Magdalene on it, and have been listening to it all day.

Mary Magdalene Playlist
Anúna, Jerusalem,
Anúna, Quem Queritis, Deep Dead Blue
Anuna, The Fisher King, Deep Dead Blue
Collette Baron-Reid, Magdalene's Garden, Magdalene's Garden
Tori Amos, Marys of the Sea, The Beekeeper
Tori Amos, Past the Mission, Under the Pink
Tori Amos, Mrs. Jesus, Scarlet's Walk
Tori Amos, Mountain, Scarlet's Walk
A Perfect Circle, Magdalena, Mer De Noms
Dar Williams, The Ballad of Mary Magdalene, Cry, Cry, Cry
The Rose Ensemble, Maria Magdalena, Seasons of Angels
Hans Zimmer, Chevaliers de Sangreal, The Da Vinci Code OST

Some of these songs have nothing to do with Mary Magdalene, for example the song The Fisher King, and Chevaliers de Sangreal, however, they invoke the feeling of Mary Magdalene for me. I know there was a song Kyrie for the Magdalene on the soundtrack but I like this song much better. I tried to pick songs about all her aspects, from historical to modern to try to represent her as a whole person. Hope that helps!
